Let's Bookmarks it!

Project Let's Bookmarks it! was oriented on bringing Bookmarks manual closer to youth organizations and schools through competence building of youth workers/educators from youth organizations and school teachers on how to use bookmarks manual and what kind of actions can be followed up.

The campaign on Georgian level remains driven by the need to counter online hate speech in all its forms, including those that most affect young people, such as cyber bullying and cyber hate, racism and other forms of discrimination. For strengthening the quality and impact of the educational activities planned and implemented within the campaign No Hate Speech Movement, Human Rights Association is working on competence building of youth workers/educators and school teachers on how to use Bookmarks manual in their everyday working life.

HRA believes that education is the one of the most important way to combat hate speech in all its forms and with this reason with the partnership between Human Rights Association and the Council of Europe office in Tbilisi Georgian version of the Bookmarks will be published.

Aim and objectives:

The project aims at building participants’ competences to combat hate speech online and promote human rights through using Bookmarks manual for Human Rights online.

Objectives:

  • To introduce Bookmarks manual for human rights online as a tool to counter hate speech online;
  • To improve competences of youth workers/educators and school teachers to integrate activism against hate speech in their daily working life;
  • To strengthen youth workers/educators and school teachers to address hate speech in different environments with different target groups;
  • To develop the competences to implement online and offline campaign activities in the framework of Action Days;

Project structure:

Participants have had possibility to take part in the training course that involved different stages such as: residential seminar, follow up activities planned by the participants and evaluation of the work – done within the follow up. Within the residential seminar participants have developed the competences on how to use Bookmarks and how to adapt different exercises for different groups. Within the follow up they have used this knowledge and manual itself in their everyday working life with young people – beneficiaries of the youth organizations and pupils of the schools. After all of the stages within the project framework participant youth workers and teachers are acting as educators within the campaign on Georgian level.

Target group

The project brought together 20 participants – 10 youth workers and 10 teachers.

  • Council of Europe office in Tbilisi – Financially and institutionally supported the translation of Bookmarks manual for Human Rights online;
